Neutrophil to Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR) Calculator
How it is calculated
NLR = absolute neutrophil count ÷ absolute lymphocyte count.
What your result means
- A study of healthy adults reported a normal NLR range of 0.78 to 3.53.
- NLR rises with acute illness, physical stress and some medications, so a single value is read in context and often repeated.
- Your own lab's printed range and your clinician's read of your history come first; this calculator is educational and is not a diagnosis.
Test the inputs
The FitScript Baseline panel measures the values this calculator uses. Related: neutrophils percent, lymphocytes percent, wbc.
Common questions
Do I use percentages or absolute counts?
Absolute counts are standard. Because both come from the same differential, the ratio of percentages gives the same result.
What raises NLR?
Infection, physical stress, intense exercise and some medications can all raise it temporarily.
Is a high NLR dangerous?
On its own it is not a diagnosis. A clinician reads it with the full blood count and your history.
