Common questions

What does Extended Men's Health test?

PSA (total, free and % free), testosterone by LC/MS with free and bioavailable fractions, SHBG, albumin, DHT, FSH, LH, IGF-1 and prolactin.

Why is testosterone measured by LC/MS?

LC/MS (mass spectrometry) is more accurate than the standard immunoassay, especially at the low and high ends of the range.

Does a high PSA mean prostate cancer?

No. PSA can rise for many reasons, including an enlarged prostate, inflammation, recent exercise or ejaculation. Free PSA helps put a total PSA in context. Review any elevated result with your provider.

Do I need to fast?

No fasting is required, but draw before 10am — testosterone is highest in the morning.
